Who can be a counselor or volunteer?
We welcome applications from anyone who falls into the following groups!
Counselors - those in 8th-12th grade for the 2024-2025 school year
Alumni Volunteers - those who are in college or are of the typical age of a college student for the 2024-2025 school year
Adult Volunteers - those who have already graduated from college

What are the application requirements?
Counselor Application
To apply to be a counselor, you must submit a written application and letter of recommendation by March 8th at 11:59 PM CST. If you will be 18 years old or older by June 7th, you will be required to pass a background check. For those accepted, there will also be a required fee that must be paid by May 1st.

What is the counselor and volunteer fee for?
The counselor and volunteer fee for 2025 is $500. This fee covers your food for the week as well as merch and a portion of your lodging. All counselors and volunteers are required to cover this fee but may either pay or fundraise the amount.

What is the commitment for counselors and volunteers before camp?
Accepted counselors and volunteers are required to attend virtual meetings on April 7th and May 4th. They are also required to meet with their assigned groups as needed, help with fundraising efforts, and plan any assigned activities. Additionally, all counselors and volunteers must complete a Harassment Training prior to camp.
Can I earn community service hours for camp?
Absolutely! You will earn 112 hours for the week of camp. Additional hours may be earned by participating in fundraising activities prior to camp.
How do I get to camp?
Those located in the DFW area will meet up in Arlington (address to be sent out to accepted counselors at a later date). They will then be picked up and taken to the camp location.
Counselors located in Houston will be taking a bus up to Dallas where they will be picked up and taken to the camp location. Bus information will be provided to accepted counselors at a later date.

Counselors may not drive themselves to or from camp. You must be dropped off at the designated meeting locations for their respective city.

What do I need to pack for camp?
A packing list will be provided to accepted counselors and volunteers.
Where do I stay for the week of camp?
Counselors and alumni volunteers are required to stay on camp for the entire week. You will stay in air-conditioned cabins on the campgrounds. Counselor cabins will be staffed by alumni or adult volunteers.
Adult volunteers may stay on camp if space is available. Please indicate in the volunteer form if you would like to stay on camp.

Do I have to come for the whole week of camp?
Yes, all counselors and alumni volunteers are required to be at camp from June 7th to 14th.

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be food for me?
Absolutely! We accommodate all dietary restrictions. Please reach out to Lynda Friedensohn ([email protected]) before camp to ensure that we have an accurate understanding of your needs.
What do I do if I have medications or other medical requirements?
Counselors and volunteers are able to bring any sort of medications or medical equipment that they may need. We will also have a nurse on staff should more extreme medical needs arise.
What am I not allowed to bring to camp?
You may not bring any drugs, alcohol, or weapons. This includes vapes, e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches, marijuana, tobacco, or any other illicit substance. Any counselor or volunteer found with any of these will be asked to leave Camp Impact immediately.
